10 Questions You Should Ask Yourself
Self-improvement: improvement of one’s condition through one’s efforts. I constantly see myself as somewhat satisfied in my life the way things are, but it’s hard to think of anything else you are just surviving.
Why not focus on what you can control, aspiring for something deeper and more meaningful in your own life. We’re all pelted with problems. Honestly, it shouldn’t bother or hinder us from becoming all we ought to be.
All the aspirations we have had throughout our lives continue to live within us, even though we might have put them on the back burner. Once we have the genuine desire and choose to take action, we need a plan, knowledge, and tools to succeed in reaching those aspirations.
They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks . . . or can they?
1. What do I really want?
The question of the ages. So many things you want to do with your life and so little time just trying to get through the day. Finding something that you are good at can help to realize that small step toward improvement. Discover what motivates you to take action. Acknowledging it with diligence is the key to knowing that it is worth it.
2. Should I really change?
Times and situations change all the time. Today’s generation has taken redefining ‘self’ to a whole new level. There are far worse things they could have chosen. So how does that fit into your lifestyle? Change is inevitable but how we change is up to us. The world is moving fast and it can be exciting if you are willing to learn and adjust.
3. What’s the bright side to all of this?
Today, so many resources are at our disposal that weren’t so readily available years ago. When you understand what truly motivates you will become more in charge of your destiny. Let’s consider that light at the end of the tunnel and if it’s a train, take it for a ride and see what makes the world go round! We can still see it as something positive with the proper perspective; we can hop on or move out of the way.
4. Am I comfortable with what I’m doing?
Typically there is an easy way and a right way to do things. Sometimes if we look at it, the easy way could be the right way. Have you learned or done everything you want to do in life. It’s great to put on a pair of sweats and curl up in a blanket, with a book, movie, or game. After taking the time to relax the question is what else is left to accomplish or enjoy. Are you comfortable with just surviving?
5. Have I done enough for myself?
Most of us have some responsibility. We might have decided to have a family, purchased a home, taken care of our parents, bought a car, added a puppy to our family, or even paid taxes. These are choices we make to enhance our lives and add a bit of comfort to our lives. You are not selfish when you wonder “What have I done for myself.” When you are doing something for yourself, it will make your other choices more enjoyable. Think about it. If you are happy with yourself, others around you will benefit.
6. Am I happy at where I am today?
Some people love where they are and what they are doing; do you want to take it up a notch? Have you done all you want? If not, do you have a plan to do so? Do you earn enough money? Hate what you do to make money? Do you want to start your own business? If you could live today again, what would you do differently? Start Now make a plan to get to a happy place.
7. Am I approachable?
Many people will answer yes, without thinking about who sees them as approachable. Are you only approachable to your peers? People on your same financial level? People, who speak the same language? People with the same ethnic background? Your attitude toward other people is what makes you approachable. So maybe you don’t have an answer to this, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try it. Are you confident about your answer or something else?
8. How much could I have?
How much are you willing to work to have those things? I suppose, in this case, there is no such thing as having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really want or need them. Taking action with the right plan and tools is imperative. You might need to adjust your plans or regroup, but if have that desire you will find the way.
9. What motivates me?
It’s an answer you need to answer for yourself. There are many things that can make someone happy, but choosing one of them may be the hardest part. What is the thing that you would jump out of bed for with excitement and energy? Make that list of things that motivate you and start figuring it out. So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to attain something new you will need to get outside your comfort zone and stretch a little. It’s not easy so don’t give up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it has to be something that you really want.
So there we have it. 10 simple questions to ask yourself. Do you want to improve? I do not have all the answers for you. You can only answer for yourself.
